Successful commissioning in Ethiopia

Successful commissioning in Ethiopia 1020 765 Asantys Solar Systems

Published: 15.03.2024

We are pleased to announce a significant milestone in our mission to bring sustainable energy solutions to communities in need. Early March 2024, in partnership with Humanitarian Energy (HumEn), we successfully commissioned a solar PV system in the town of Sheder, Ethiopia. This project marks a crucial step towards electrifying a former refugee camp, providing electricity to the local community for the first time ever!

The impact of this electrification project goes beyond just powering homes. It opens doors to Productive Uses of Renewable Energy (PURE), empowering individuals to generate income and dramatically improve their quality of life, health, and hygiene conditions.

Our colleague karama Sammoudi was on site to oversee the commissioning of the generator assets. She reported that collaborating with the HumEn team was an enriching experience. From initial planning to final implementation, every member brought unique expertise and dedication to the table. Karama emphasised that it was truly inspiring to see how each individual contributed their skills and knowledge, whether in engineering, project management, logistics, or local community engagement.

But that is not all – this project is also a pioneer project in Ethiopia, being the first commercial mini-grid project under the new minigrid regulation in the country.

We are very honored and proud to play a part in advancing sustainable energy solutions in regions that need it most, while simultaneously making positive impacts on local communities and the environment. 🌞💡🌱
